New BURNING POINT Bassist Speaks

January 11, 2007

Jukka Jokikokko, who recently joined Finnish metallers BURNING POINT as the group's new bassist, has issued the following statement regarding his addition to the band:

"First, it is honor to be a part of this group full of great musicians. I have known Pete [Ahonen; vocals, guitar] [for] some time for now. We have done music together in another band called STARGAZERY. I also knew Jari [Kaiponen, drums] before. On 'Burned Down the Enemy' I was as studio engineer and I get to know rest of the band, Jussi [Ontero, keyboards] and later Pekka [Kolivuori, guitar].

"BURNING POINT didn't have a bass player at the time, so Pete and folks asked to me do I want to play some tracks in the album. I played 12 tracks to 14 recorded and Pete played rest two. It felt pretty good to play those songs and then band had a suprise gig in Club Teatria and I had opportunity to go on stage with these guys. Gig was amazing and chemistry of the band worked great since first training session. We had some conversations and I informed that I am available as a bassist if they want. So I didn't have nothing much to think, when they asked me to join the band. 'Of course' was only right answer."

BURNING POINT released its third album, entitled "Burned Down the Enemy", in Japan on December 20 via Soundholic. The Japanese CD contains two bonus tracks. The European release through Metal Heaven Records is scheduled for early this year; the exact date will be announced later.

The mixing sessions for "Burned Down the Enemy" took place at the Tonebox studio in the band's hometown of Oulu. Kari "Kakke" Vähäkuopus, who handled the mixing process for the previous albums, "Salvation by Fire" and "Feeding the Flames", once again helmed the sessions. The CD was mastered at Finnvox studios in Helsinki.

BURNING POINT has scheduled a CD-release concert on February 3 at 45 Special in Oulu. The gig will be filmed for possible future use.
